SEPSiL Joins the World to Commemorate World Wetlands Day!
The theme for this year, “wetlands for our common future”, resonates well with the significance of these ecosystems which are currently under serious threat.
Massive hectares of wetlands in Sierra Leone and most African countries are in dire need of protection from desertification as a consequence of our handiwork including mining, housing and other unsustainable practices.
The importance of wetlands to the continued existence of humanity and biodiversity in general cannot be overstated.
This day, therefore, serves as one of the moments of reminder for all to take decisive actions for the protection and safety of these critical ecosystems.
The Society on Environmental Pollution in Sierra Leone (SEPSiL) joins their counterparts across the world to raise public consciousness on the importance of wetlands for our common future.
